About the Event
I am happy to share that my TELEshadowPORTATION” project, a series of lanterns, upgraded in collaboration with Vienna’s J. & L. Lobmyre airing especially for Lobmeyr’s 200- anniversary, will be presented at this year's Vienna Design Week, Austria's most important multidisciplinary and curated design festival,
The project we have been preparing is a complex one, reintroducing and recontextualizing what we know to be the first light sources, LANTERNS, (a favorite of mine of the many special and unique Lobmeyr designs) my interventions on their lanterns spanning back to Lobmeyr’s first designs being 400 years old, and extending all the way up to today’s most modern designs.
Being givers of light, paving a path in the darkness, i envisioned lanterns to provide us with an mirage of shadow play on the wall, a merry go round of emotions surrounding us, protecting us in the darkness that seems to have preceded and continues…
