About the Event
SAVE THE DATE: Eva Petrič: Worlds of Drops...Drops of Worlds, Island of Brioni (Church of St. Rochus), Croatia, opening with RE@EVOLUTION film/performance, May 31 at 9 pm (open air Summer Cinema).
I am delighted to share that after two years, my art will be shown again at the medieval Church of St. Rochus at the beautiful Island of Brioni, the very special national park in the Adriatic, with its rich history of being on the crossroads of the Illyrian, Roman, Venetian and Slavic people, leaving behind a rich historic legacy.
This year, from May 31 to August 31, the Church of St. Rochus will host my installation Worlds of Drops... Drops of Worlds, created from recycled handmade laces collected from all over the world.
Along with the opening of the exhibition at the Church of St. Rochus on May 31, I am especially happy to invite you to the special screening at the open air Summer Cinema at 9. pm, of RE@EVOLUTION, a 55-minute audio visual journey, with the music of Rupert Huber and my film, adapted with performative inserts especially for the unique location of the island of Brioni.
RE@EVOLUTION premiered in its primal square form at the Kuenstlerhaus Vienna on March 28 2022, and thereafter in its circular and reworked form specially adapted for the planetarium of the Museum of Natural History in Vienna, May 2022), and thereafter, is was a part of the 2- month long multimedia installation „Celebrating Life“ at Uniqa Tower in Vienna. RE@EVOLUTION invites us to travel through the history and future of the universe and back again, with an in-between stop at our human base Earth. For the island of Brioni, I will present a remake of the original screening from the Kuenstlerhaus Vienna, with on site performative inclusions. Kindly invited to join us for this special evening of time travel on the waves of music and images, at the special location of the island of Brioni (settled already in pre-historic times), welcoming you to re-enter into Plato's Allegory of the Cave and into possibly the greatest of caves, the human mind.
In the words of Jurij Meden, curator of the Film Museum Vienna:
“The video strikes me as brilliant: as more intimate, more lyrical, also more abstract, and at the same time identically ambitious variation of the famous experimental film Koyaanisqatsi.”
